But when the patient openly confesses his wrongdoings to his family and community, he compromises his chances of receiving the proper medical treatment that could save his life. Meanwhile, Chase (Jesse Spencer) and Taub (Peter Jacobson) rejoin the team, and Taub tries to balance life at the hospital with his responsibilities as a father of two infant daughters from two different mothers.

House Season 8 Premiere-2 weeks from tonight!

Hello all,

Hope you’ve had a great summer and are ready for the season 8 premiere of House, M.D. “Twenty Vicodin.” I’ve seen the episode and it is excellent. I know some of you are unhappy with the way things turned out at the end of last season and with the departure of Lisa Edelstein as Dr. Lisa Cuddy. However, I think that if the premiere is any indication (and admittedly, it is a stand-alone, House only episode) Season 8 will be fantastic.

Over the weekend, I posted my review of “Twenty Vicodin”  at Blogcritics, so do take a look (warning–there are a few spoilers, so spoilerphobes should stay away). Hugh Laurie is fantastic in the episode (in fact the entire cast of the first episode is excellent). But he is the only one from the cast in it. (That promo floating around with Foreman in it must be from a later episode–maybe episode 2?)

We are all sad that Hugh Laurie didn’t win the Emmy last night, but he looked great, and it was great to see himpresent (and tease Helen Mirren). It was nice to see a few of my regular readers come to our little Blogcritics Emmy party. It was a huge success, with 182 people stopping by during the four hours we were broadcasting our chat.

It was such a huge success that I’ve decided to host another chat–this one following the broadcast of the House season premiere. So. Please come and bring your friends. The only rules will be NO Flaming and if you have an axe to grind, leave it at home. Let me know if you’re planning to come (and I promise to keep the chat open long enough for West Coasters to join in).

And if you haven’t yet, do pick up a copy of Chasing Zebras: The Unofficial Guide to House, M.D. It’s available in paperback and for immediate download (on pretty much every ebook platform)! And if you have already read it, please let others know by writing a short review for Goodreads or Amazon.com

Are You Ready for House, M.D.’s Season 8?

Published first at BlogCritics

Caveat: Mild spoilers ahoy, me mateys.

We are about one month from the season eight premiere of House, M.D., starring Hugh Laurie as the genius diagnostician Dr. Gregory House. When last we saw Dr. House, he had crashed his car into the (unoccupied) dining room of his boss and ex-girlfriend Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein). Fleeing from the scene, House ended season seven on a beach somewhere in the South Pacific, strolling down a beach into the sunset.

As we enter season eight, much has changed in House’s world. Cuddy is gone. Full stop. Edelstein’s departure (she will be seen this season on The Good Wife in a guest-starring role) was a blow to House’s cast and creative team.

But what effect will her departure have on House? Will he feel responsible for her leaving? Or will he blow it off, holding his angst over it (which will be there) inside? Personally, I would like to see House’s struggle with Cuddy’s absence, trying to make it not matter, but failing in his effort.

House, M.D.: Season 7 Drawing to a Close with Four New Episodes

For weeks now, I’ve ruminated upon why some of my friends in the HouseM.D. fandom have become frustrated with the series. Why am I’m still enjoying House’s (the ever-incredible Hugh Laurie) journey, while others have become disenchanted? And still others, who a year ago or more wondered why I was still so intrigued, have rediscovered House, finding it once again enjoyable?
